Managing offsite resources
Swansea recognizes the challenges involved when
delivering services through resources working at client locations for extended
periods of time and has developed an approach that successfully deals with these
challenges. In fact:
- Almost all of Swansea’s services are
delivered in this manner and our continued existence demonstrates our ability
to meet the needs of this type of assignment.
- Although Swansea’s management is located in
Toronto, our largest clients are located in the US. Our ongoing relations with
these clients attest to our ability to successfully overcome the challenges of
distance and an even an international border.
Our strategy for effectively managing offsite
resources includes:
- Employing only experienced consultants who
have demonstrated the ability to work independently and, in fact, prefer this
arrangement.
- Based on our experience we are familiar with
the types of issues that can lead to problems in this type of arrangement.
(These include, for example, unclear descriptions of deliverables or roles).
We ensure that any such issues are identified and resolved as early as
possible – ideally, before any work begins.
- Effective communications with clients and
consultants throughout the assignment.
